clipsters dog grooming services terms & conditions
At Clipsters we want your dog to look their best, and we want to provide the best, most professional grooming service possible for you and your special friend.
In order to provide the best, safest service for you and your dog it is important that you read our terms and conditions which outline our responsibilities and commitments.
Clipsters take the utmost care of your (and your dog’s) information. We only store the details we need to carry out our business and, with your permission, to send you appointment reminders and occasional, relevant marketing updates. Please read the below terms and conditions or contact Clipsters if you have any questions or concerns.
Using Clipsters’ services
When using Clipsters dog grooming services you agree to the terms and conditions of our service as outlined in person and/or on the contact page. This includes, but is not limited to, accepting that:
Services & Costs
As a customer of Clipsters you agree to confirm that your dog is fit, healthy and vaccinated and that you will inform us of any allergies, skin conditions or other health issues. Furthermore, that Clipsters cannot be held liable or responsible for any irritation, abrasion, patchiness or hair loss due to any pre-existing skin condition or as a result of the normal dog grooming process, de-matting, thinning, stripping, clipping, shaving, or any other mishap caused by non-disclosure of the dog’s health, medical condition or behaviour. Should the dog bite or attempt to bite any person or other animal an appropriate muzzle may be used, or if deemed necessary the groomer will cease treatment. In addition to the cost of any treatment and time taken, regardless of whether the grooming could be completed or not, the customer will also be liable for the cost of any damage or expense directly caused by their dog.
Clipsters undertake any service and agree any costs in good faith. In some circumstances it may be necessary for the cost to change or to terminate a service before completion. This may be because Clipsters were not aware in advance of health issues related to a dog, or because of the dog’s behaviour during grooming (for example, becoming aggressive towards the groomer, or becoming particularly agitated or distressed). In the very unlikely event that a cost changes or service cannot be completed, the customer will be informed as soon as possible by phone call, SMS, WhatsApp etc. Every attempt will be made to contact the customer but in the event that the customer cannot confirm the change in cost/service, Clipsters will act at their discretion and in the best interest of the dog.
Clipsters will agree what dog grooming service will be provided before an appointment is confirmed. This may change on the day once the groomer has seen the dog, and with the agreement of both Clipsters and the customer. Dog grooming sessions typically last around 90-120 minutes. The customer must arrive within approximately 15 minutes of the agreed appointment time, and within 15 minutes of the agreed collection time* (although an approximate time will be given on arrival, the collection time will be confirmed by SMS, WhatsApp etc during the grooming session and with reasonable notice). Failure to do this may incur an additional charge or the cancellation of the appointment or referral to a specialist dog day care provider (which will also incur an additional charge). Clipsters will make every attempt to be flexible and will attempt to contact a customer before any charge is levied or cancellation imposed.
(* This also applies where dogs are collected and/or returned via Clipsters’ pick-up and drop-off service.)
Cancellations
Should you need to cancel a confirmed grooming appointment Clipsters will do their best to accommodate your request. Cancelling or re-arranging an appointment at less than 48 hours notice may incur a charge upto 100% of the agreed grooming cost. This will be payable either within 24 hours of the original appointment time, or added to the total cost the next time you book with Clipsters. This will be agreed at the time of cancellation.
Health & Wellbeing
Should a dog be found to be carrying fleas an additional £10 charge will be levied to cover the application of medicated shampoo and the cost of decontaminating the grooming area before other dogs use it. Customers will be informed of this charge but cannot request that it is not added to their bill as once an affected dog has entered the premises it must be treated and decontaminated.
Should your dog be found to have, or suspected of having any other health issue/s during their time in our care, Clipsters will inform the customer immediately. If veterinary attention is required Clipsters will inform the customer immediately and either a) take the dog to an agreed veterinary practice; b) wait for the customer to attend in person; c) take the dog to a veterinary practice of Clipsters’ choice. A dog’s wellbeing is paramount to Clipsters and we will not take any unnecessary risks. If we suspect a dog may be ill or injured we will do everything possible to ensure it is treated quickly and professionally. Clipsters’ groomer Charlotte Bates is Level 3 City & Guilds qualified, which includes training in basic canine first aid and in spotting certain health and wellbeing signs, but we are not trained in specialist veterinary or canine medicine. If a dog requires prescribed medicine, it is the owner’s responsibility to dispense it. Clipsters are not licensed to provide such a service under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. Clipsters cannot be held liable for failing to spot, and therefore alerting an owner to, any underlying health conditions, illnesses, injuries or other problems. Where possible we will raise any concerns with an owner.
Clipsters are fully insured by Petplan Sanctuary.
By booking with Clipsters you agree to the terms and conditions laid out above and that will be explained to you in person during your appointment. Clipsters commit to providing a professional service as agreed with their customer. Anything written or said related to this service, including timeframe and costs, constitute a legal contract between both parties as outlined by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

We believe that all groomers should have a minimum standard of training in everyday grooming techniques, use of products, handling, first aid and general care.
